Going to my friends to caulk the tile backsplash we put in last month. Then going to his dads gun store to pick up a single six convertable and more ammo. Traded my sig ever- jamming mosquito for it. 6 definites r better than 10 sometimes, imo. Then off to get 2 more cases of veggies on sale this week. Pouring out, Windy, good day for it.

I spoke to a girl at work today and was very happy to hear that she has started prepping. I can thank the girl that I got started here for talking to her about it. Yeah! trickle down effect! Well that's at least three here at work that I know of!
I made a list of priorities that after the holiday I am going to try and tackle. They are convenience items really but life would be so much better with them.

I got the wood pile that is under cover replenished, does that count? ;D I looked outside a while ago and almost had a coronary, we were having a blizzard!! You would think with Lynn working at Penn State Meteorology she would have told me about snow coming..but nooooooo, I had to almost kill myself getting wood in before it was covered with snow.

I am reorganizing my storage(yet again.) Just when I think I have it right ,we decide on a new item to store and then I have to make room for it. I shouldn't compalin, having a full storage is a good thing.

Going to cook a homegrown leg of lamb, dry rubbed with garlic and sage. Potatoes, onions, carrots and parsnip. Everything was grown on the homestead. (Except the white wine.) I LOVE that i can do this. Tomorrow, I'll can the leftovers with some other jars of stew meat to fill the canner up. If the lamb dinner cans up like moosh, I like soup, too. Lol

Julie it is in the Food section, under recipes, Herb Crusted Lamb and Morels, my kids requested it for Christmas dinner two years ago when we were in NH. So far everyone has raved about it. Have those that don't like lamb at least tried it? Even my grandkids loved it.

Oh OK!
Yeah they have tried lamb a couple of different ways. I thought it was delicious. When I was a kid I hated lamb so may be it will just take some coaxing.....

Garlic, either rubbed on dry, or my favorite, stab with a knife and push cloves in deep. Changes the smell, which some folks find offensive. Mutton, cant stand the smell. Tender young lambs are cute and yummy.!
Wayne, I LOVE shroomies! Gonna order some kits from fungi perfecti this winter. I guess you can can shroomies. I want to learn so when we grow some I can store them for long term.

Cut firewood, and then decided that I have nowhere near enough canning jars. OBummer. Posteponyed my meat buying until I can do some....creative banking. Thinking of going around the neighborhood here and asking my older friends if they would have an unused stash somewhere. Most they'll do is say no. Hell, I was married to the redhead for 14 years, I've heard NO before.

I decided to make a list of what I want to do around here then prioritize it in order of importance. Right now I have it in my mind. I guess tomorrow I'm going to put it on paper. There are only 2 big hurdles to overcome, time and money. We're still paying down debt, so money is on short supply, and so it time. It makes one feel very unprepared.
The other thing I'm doing is sharing as much American history verbally with both the 21 year old and the 11 year old. I know we already schooled the 21 year old but I figure the more I can shove into their young brains the more they'll remember in the future.

But most that I hunt dehydrate very nicely and when re-hydrated can't tell the difference between them and fresh ones. I have a Mushroom forum also with a couple guys there that are real knowledgeable about growing. www.pashroomin.proboards.com one of the guys there writes for the paper.

I once got 5 boxes of jars for $5.
