Her mom is doing much better, the pain has gotten tolerable, and she is starting to do a few things for herself. But she is getting impatient already. She is always on the go, this recoupe is going to be hard. I am at the point where I feel I can cut back some outside. It feels good to downshift after playing catchup for the last two months.

I like Christmas lights because they dont seem to attract the skeeters and critters as much. Plus they are LED wally world after the holiday cheapies, so you can string like 36 runs in a row. If you had that many. We sunk some 2x4's in the ground and tied up some rope, then ran the lights on that. I had to stand on the tractor seat to reach. Poor tractor Gonna go pick up all the tools, looks like rain again. BBL.

Got a bunch done today, more than planned for, which is good for a change. Got the old coop cleaned out and moved, filled up the tires (how often you gonna hear of THAT?) Took it down to the woodlot and loaded up with maple branches from last winter. We'll run 'em thru the chopsaw tomorrow. Planted another block of Painted Mountain heirloom field corn and watered them good. I was shocked that the bare garden soil was bone dry down as far as the dibble poked. It kept caving in and pissing me off. Will see if bro will let me use his lawn tractor and I'll mow my old yard with it. I'll have enough grass then! My friends are up from Connecticut at our neighbors, and they keep riding by on the Harleys, teasing me wicked bad. I'll have to go pee on some tires later.

Guess it would help if I knew what month I was in!? Andy, congratulations and a happy anniversary to you and Trudy. Cindy and I will celebrate 30 years on August 1st. And the best part is, I already bought her anniversary present, the kayaks. Yesterday, "the Warden" gave me a work pass. She drove me over to the kayak shop to bring my motorcycle back home. I told her it wasn't going to impact the foot at all because it's the right foot. The only thing I use that for is the rear brake and I can just not use that for now. The best part of that was that once the shop owner got done busting my chops about the cane he said almost exactly the same thing. So she felt better about letting me do it. Getting lots of schoolwork done, since I'm not allowed to do much of anything else. We just returned from Lowe's. I needed a fitting to fix the hose on my power washer so I can finish cleaning the deck. Then she took me to the chinese buffet for supper. Foot's a little sore right now, but serviceable. Oh, I got my placement for my student teaching. We exhausted literally every school district within 30 miles of home trying to find an Earth & Space position. Seems that with the budget cutbacks this year that was one of the first positions most schools cut, since it's not a required science in PA. In fact, in PA, the only required sciences are Bio and Chem. I have no idea how they could possibly be rated the 10th best state for education based upon that. Anyway, I'll be teaching with a 10th grade Biology/Environmental Science teacher in the district that I substituted in 2nd most this year. She's also the head swim team coach, and I was the head coach for the local YMCA winter team in '91-'93. We appear to be a pretty good match.

Mike, I'm glad to hear that your foot is doing a little better.
Martin-you're a brave man. I love zucchini too but OMG! In only have 5 plants this year. Too much room saved for the tomatoes.
Cam and I dug the last of the new potatoes yesterday-he had fun. If I have time before the festivities today, I might do a canner load...we'll see-I have to go to the store this morning to get the fruit for my fruit salad that I'm bringing to my mother's.
Last night we went to a neighbors house for a Bar-B-Q. We had never been there before. They have a FANTASTIC grape arbor! It's a huge pergola with their patio set underneath. It is absolutely loaded with grapes. When I was marveling at it she asked me if I wanted some-they typically get at least 2- 55 gallon drums full of grapes off it it and all they do with them is feed them to the birds! I of course said yes-then she offered ALL of them to us-she said she would rather see them go to someone for use than just basically throwing them away. I told her I'd make her a batch of jam and some wine. so she was thrilled. I'm not sure what kind they are-the arbor was there when they moved in so she isn't sure either. They are white grapes-that's all I know but that's good enough for me! I'll figure some stuff out!
Happy Fourth of July Everyone!
Be back later!

Happy Independence Day! We are going to be lazy today, just putter around the house. I am putting ribs in to slow cook about 10:00 and I will finish them on the grill tonight. So today and tomorrow are catch up days because starting Wednesday I will be delivering papers for 3 days. We got our new racks in, these racks hold 400 papers, the first racks I bought only hold 200, so some store that are far away were running out very quickly, hopefully, this will give me a better idea on demand. I also just figured up that we have almost $1,000 in newspaper racks, good grief, I never figured on that being such a high dollar item.

There is nothing in the security logs, the only thing it shows is that you modified the post ( made an entry etc. ) at 7:07 and 7:23, nothing after that.

Congrats on the grape score, Julie. That is awesome! Grapes are on my list for next season. I have one hill of Zuc's and one hill of 8 ball, 3 plants per. I will seed the same again august 1st. I just went foolish on eggplant this year With a few nights getting up near 65, everything is finally getting up to speed here. Only things put up so far are dried herbs. The last week I've been walking over the wall to the big gardens with a stove shovel, scooping up my neighbors cat crap and flinging it in her driveway. The havaheart trap comes out today. Here kitty kitty kitty. Me and the ladies had another fire last night, and thats always fun. Then the rain started, but didnt amount to much. Everyone have a great day. I'm gonna hang out and watch the grass grow, cook some ribs and burgers....maybe read some. Def. gonna water some, too. I slept in until 8 this morning, which never happens. Chore time.

Did everyone have a nice fourth? We got some stuff done on the coop, then went to Mom's a a cookout-then went tour friend's again this year who live on the ocean to watch the fireworks. Of course that was after little miss me whigged out on my next door neighbor. Jimmy was right behind me but enough flowery language came out of my mouth for ten sailors. . I had had my fill of bad language, racing the motor bikes not only in their back yard ALL day-on a holiday-but up and down in front of our house at 90 mph. Then to top it all off-their early 20 something son (who's on probation) took his beater caddy and starting laying rubber in front of the house-then went into his yard and did it in his gravel driveway throwing clouds of rocks into the street towards their neighbor across the street (who were outside playing basketball) Let's put it this way-I went over the stockade fence. Those boys were in state of shock. I am a nice neighbor who puts up with a lot but that was enough. It got REAL quiet over there once I said my piece. I know we have complained about them before-one of the kids fell off of the bike last week and broke his leg-I knew it was going to happen. There are so many little kids in the neighborhood. Not cool-
