No-that's on my wish list though-it's a Nesco professional series. My first batch seemed to turn out real well! Skinning some apples right now to put in-we're gonna have a hard freeze tomorrow night (perfect for Halloween) so I am getting the fruit out of the way in case I find odds and end of vegis that need picking.
You guys are so funny!

On my wish list as well. I have a American Harvester and it has served me very well over the 6 or so years I have had it. During mushroom season and harvest time it runs almost 24/7. I love dehydrating items because of the space it saves, I store my dehydrated items in old blue Ball jars with the zinc lids, they look great in the cabinets.

I'm jealous of the mushrooms you guys have there. I bet they DO look great! I am vac sealing the fruit in mason jars and putting them in the basement for now. I like the idea of the size of the excalibur, but for the money? The write-ups on this Nesco seemed REALLY good, so I went with it-so far I am really pleased. I have one or two other important things on my list right now-like a big berkey, so it can wait.

I'm not sure how good it will be, but I dehydrated some seedless chunks of patty pan squash this summer. Then I put em in bowl and had fun with the tater smasherupperator doohinkus. Figured I'd chuck some in soups and such.

Jules, you guys have them there too, once I get up there for good, we will have you and James up for a couple hunts to give you a feel for what is what, and then you will be finding them every where. We share the same desire for the Big Berkey, it will come.

I made a pot of vegetable soup last night that Lynn went nuts over, said it is one of the best soups I have ever made, and it was done with stuff from the garden except the meat. Glad she liked it, cause I made a HUGE pot. :-)

I've been watching some videos-Alright I'm a youtube nut ;D about dehydrating and one of the girls on the video was using her dehydrator to dry frozen vegis that she bought on sale. They are quick and easy to do because they are already blanched. No prep work but to dump them on the trays-well skeptical me had to try it-and you know what? Bingo! She was right! They dried very nicely! Now I am on a tear-taking all of the frozen bags out of the freezer that I have and drying them. The stuff in my freezer always seems to get freezer burned because they get shoved to the back-and with my limited amount of freezer space, I would rather use that room for meat.

Thank you Julie, I did not know that, I feel the same as you, store meat in the freezer, and dry or can the veggies.

Here is the web site that I found the videos about dehydrating the frozen vegis. There is a whole list of other videos she has done. She also has a video about the sweet storage shelves she made for her mason jars. Her web site is pretty good. www.dehydrate2store.com/videos/

Oops! Ah, Wayne.... You cant just say"it was the best soup..." fat people cant handle stuff like that! We like recipes! Lol got Jackies new book last week. She says either freeze( got plenty) or dehydrate broccoli. Do i just do small flourettes? Do the "tree trunk" parts dry out goodly? Those are my favorite part. I know- weird!
