Where's a good place to buy land in NH? Preferrably a good distance from liberals. ;D ~Martin Hey, we should all buy up the land all around Wayne and Lynn and start little colony. Wait, how long are winters there again? Never mind.

The Lakes Region where I used to live has been infiltrated, but the northwest corner of the state is out of the tourist corridor, you just have mostly like minded people there. Actually, if you draw a line from Keene NH to North Conway NH and stay north and west of that line you are in good shape.

I'd like to stay below $35,000, preferably around 10 acres...minimum 5. I just hit the United Country search site for 10 acres and up in TN. They showed 30 properties over 10 acres that were at or below $35,000. Several in the neighborhood of only $1000 an acre.

I decided to take a chance yesterday. I am not expecting us to have any more prolonged periods of hard-freezes, so I turned on the water to the hose bib and ran my hose down to the chicken yard. No more carrying water. Yippee! That's the only part of caring for the chickens that I don't like.
I just checked my files and it seems I owe Wayne an article for the April issue. So this morning I am first going to create a short index of what I've written in the past to avoid duplication. Then hammer out an April, and maybe a May article.

Have you visited that area Mike? What counties are preferred?

Martin, I've spent some time looking at land in a couple of sections.
In the northeast corner of TN, look in Claiborne, Hancock, Campbell, and Hawkins counties. The locals like to run across the TN/KY border to avoid paying TN sales tax. Sales taxes in TN can be expensive, because they don't have any state income tax.
We've also been through the area and looked at land in the Wayne & Perry counties area, which is southwest TN. Perry is more mountainous. Wayne is heading toward AL and starting to get more into "rolling hills". Etheridge TN is noted for having the largest Amish community in the south.
I have found that the agents in both the NE and the SW areas have very euphemistic ideas of what is "rolling hills".
I will also be checking into Stewart & Montgomery counties probably this summer. Those are in the NW corner. Again, with Amish communities nearby or in the county.

You can not buy studded snow tires for motorcycles in this country. And I hate skiing! But there is ice fishing, hunting, trapping, snowshoeing. The northwest corner is still an individual liberty welcomed area. They been running things themselves since the first settlers, and they aim to keep it that way.

Martin, That is the right county, but it is the eastern edge, very close to Waterville Valley, Campton and infiltration of liberals. Where we are there is two BIG ridges between us and them, they don't venture out that way as it is too far from a Starbucks. Our town does have a Dunkin Donuts though :-)

What a horrible day here. 4 lady community members down in PA who were out for lunch were in a terrible crash with a natural gas worker yesterday. 2 were killed, 2 are critical. I know them all. One of those killed was my best friend's mom from back in my school days, the other one that was killed and I have mutual relatives. Please pray for these folks and their families.

I looked all over up there in NW NH, there doesn't seem to be much available. Which is probably a good thing for the natives up there! LOL Lots down in TN...... I've never been to TN, maybe it's time for a visit. Seriously though, I can't imagine myself leaving this area....even with all the changes here...but stranger things have happened. ~Martin ;D
