You guys put me to shame........
I cook simple during the week. Tonight we had balsamic glazed chicken, rice and carrots. Stinks when you don't get home until 5:00!
This weekend I'm making turkey chowder with the leftover turkey from last weekend. It's a nice change from doing just plain soup.

A bag O beans, a tater, few carrots, a gret biiig onion, a few pok chops, for about 8 hrs, then a few small cans of colorful veggies on top, mebe slice a yeller crook neck on top, some Leggs Old Plantation pok sausage seasoning sprinkled throughout, and jump right innere !

I know I have to use my crock pot more than I do. It has sat on the shelf mostly this winter. I never think to get it out. My evenings are usually pretty crazy between getting dinner ready, doing dishes, getting homework done, and getting the little guy ready for bed. By that point I'm tapped. Waaaaaa is me.

In the summer, when I'm running around like a chubby chicken with its head lopped off, I have lil trick I use. I take the ceramic crockpot insert out, load up the foodage to be cooked, and chuck it in the fridge overnite. While the coffee is cooking the next morning, I pop it in the base and turn it on low. I have a crockpot cookery book that I used for idea's. It still amazes me how good it works. I do the same in the winter on the woodstove with the dutch oven and a spiral of chain under it for a trivet. I really like my "meals from here" on the woodstove. So rewarding to eat 100% of the food that you grew and raised. Hopefully someday soon I can do that almost every day. Might be no other choice!

We would use the crock pot more, but Murphy has the tendency to counter surf, so the crock pot has to be put in a room that has a door that can keep him out. He almost burned the house down trying to get a package of cookies in a toaster over, managed to hit ON and when we got home, the house was full of smoke, he was a scared pup.

He is busy doing his job right at the moment, which is finding a comfortable spot on our bed and stretching out. Dog has it made, next project is making him a platform Tempurpedic bed.

The truth, as soon as it gets warmer that project comes to the forefront, a platform bed with a ramp and a tempurpedic. Poor guy is getting old. He earns his keep no one gets near the place without me knowing, and yes, he does think he owns the street out front too.
