A nick or a scratch? Oh man, we need one those smilies that rolls on the floor laughing! My stock so beat up it's even got initials carved in it.
Took the 10/22 to the range today. It was only 29 degrees so I'm glad it didn't take long to zero. Set up a few 6" paper plates and fired 3. Not even on the paper, and we didn't have anything bigger with us. So I picked out a rock up on the berm and fired. It took a full 1 1/2 revolutions of right windage to get there. Elevation was right on the money though. Shot three more groups just to get the feel of her. Last group was rapid fire and it was a clover leaf! Only 25 yards, but still nice group.
Also finally picked up my S&W 65 and got to shoot that. I'll be sending that to VT for an action job and a new front sight post. But ti was a blast to shoot. I can see that replacing the SP101 as my primary carry weapon.

RR, I'll look around the ejector and to some poking around and cleaning and see if I can fix the problem. Maybe take some Hoppes #9 and a can of compressed air to it and see what happens.
Thanks for the complement on the hat... We've been through a lot together. That thing has had everything done to it except being sat on. My son teethed on the brim when he was a baby... he's 11 now. I think for Christmas my wife is getting me a new felt hat. I guess this one will turn into a work hat only and not be worn to church like it is now... It'll be kind of weird wearing a different hat... Kind of like getting used to how a new handgun/holster combo feels on your hip.

Talk about handgun/holster combo's... I have been slowly breaking in my new Crossbreed Supertuck for my .45. I have to say I love that holster, it's very comfortable.

I've got the very same holster for several of our firearms. I like them very much. My wife bought me an early Christmas present this year....a Kimber Pro Carry 2 (45acp)....and the supertuck for it just arrived last week. I haven't had the chance to try it out yet. Have you noticed that other companies are already copying it? Fred

All this gun speak makes me drool! Guys, whenever I get a gun in to clean thats all crudded up, I take the stock and glass off. Then I blast it with a can of carb. Cleaner. Say goodbye to the crud. I used to use graphite powder instead of oil so it wouldnt attract dirt, havent been near a locksmith in years. They used to have tiny one ounce plastic bottles of it. My doctor gave me 100 6" one ended cotton swabs with a plastic handle. I melt it with a lighter and bend to the angley dangle I need when cleaning lovely weepons. Same thing with old toothbrushes. Before and after hunting season I'll sometimes have 2 gun vises on the kitchen table, all the goodies spread out.
I envy you men that served our country. My biggest " shoulda coulda woulda." As far as sniper school.... How hard, but wicked rewarding would THAT be? All the books I've read say that Marine snipers are the best of the best. To be considered the best shot in the company of some great shooters is in itself quite a feat.
Mike, as far as your nephew, he has a great role model. Make sure at the range you set up to his left with your new ruger. He can practice ducking and squinting as the brass bounces off his noggin'. I used to bring a cardboard box with me to catch the brass. More fun making them duck. Lol

Fred, I've notice that the Crossbreed is being copied. I know it's a bit more expensive, but I'll stick with them. I personally think they're the best.

Do you Guys use the shirttail in or the out model ? I think I'd like to have the "in" one depending on what you all say about it. Actually, it would be best to have one of each, wouldn't it ? Big bucks though. But then again, remember the lady who was in the burger joint a few years ago with her dad, and a crazy came in and shot the place up, and killed her dad ? Seems like a read about her in an NRA magazine, isn't she an officer there ? The time you need it the most will be the time you don't have it.
Oh well, I have several cheapies for outside I can get by with for now, but since I lost the watermellon in front I like to wear the tail in now. ;D

Forgot to ask, Andy, isn't Ariz. a big "open carry" state ? Years ago I used to talk to a guy who lived on a mountain top up there, and he mentioned several times putting on his 357 with the old western holster and belt, and going into town. That was when I had my 10 meter radio and 5 ele. yagi. Talked to him almost every day. He was around 10,000 ft, but I've forgotton what town, it was not too far from a big city up there. I'll think of it later. I'm not supposed to be able to remember.

RR, Yeah open carry is very legal here, as is concealed carry without a permit. I chose to get the permit, because wait time is less for handgun purchases and I can enter a bar with a concealed weapon legally... as long as I'm not drinking. So when I carry I NEVER drink.
The person you were talking to was either up near Flagstaff or possibly in the Greer/Showlow/Snowflake/Pinetop/Alpine area... There's a big mountain up by Alpine called Escadilla mountain... It's a great elk hunting area btw. In that area by the towns are a big tourist area, but you get out away from the towns and it's cattle/agricultural country.

RR... I can tuck my shirt in if I want, but when I carry I tend to wear a jacket or something like that. In the summer I just don't tuck my shirt in.

;D But remember Andy, the "good guys" wear white hats. ;D Glad you got the black one anyway. It was definately near Flagstaff, altho I remember him talking about going to Snowflake and Pinetop, I think elk hunting. He had cattle to, sent me some pictures of his place, it was really pretty up there, but some of the winter pics. made you cold just to look at them. Nasty cold ! Surely do like those holsters, gonna buy me one after Christmas. In case I miss you Guys, I'd like to wish You ALL a very Merry Christmas, and all those you love. Gonna take a nice hot Golden Corral dinner over to my old home town and eat tomorrow with one of my last living relatives, she's nearly 90 and it will tickle her to death. Then Sat. to LaBelle to visit a cousin and dinner. So you guys be safe and have a wonderful day. And Julie, I saw the weather earlier they said you were gonna get your White Christmas, and it made me smile. Can we assume you did NOT catch that flu bug the co-worker tried to bring you ? Sure hope you didn't. Don't eat too much !
