Hah!! I remembered why I got online this afternoon in the first place. Guess I'm not "too old" quite yet.
Anyway, I am considering adding some fruit trees to the backyard this year. I've only got 1/4 acre to work with, including the house and driveway. The logical place to put these is in the back section, with the chickens.
I was considering buying a couple of multi-variety trees from Miller Nurseries. Specifically their 4-in-1 Antique Apples tree and their 3-in-1 Cherry tree, both in dwarf/semi-dwarf stock.
Has anybody here had experience with either those types trees or Miller's? We tried a 5-in-1 apple once, but it never did get any fruit on it worth saving or using.

I used to be drawn to those type ads too, but I found them to be more gimmick than anything, I would just buy some self fertile cherry and peach and be done with it. Apples need a pollinator as do many others, with small space it isn't practical.

Some of my friends have recently complained about Miller's, which is a shame since they used to have a good reputation. I would order from St. Lawrence. Since you won't be at your present location long term, it's probably best to order dwarves (if they have them) If i were planting trees long term, I'd plant standards because they're much more hardy, I lost almost all of my perennials from that freak wild fire a few years ago and haven't got them replaced yet....hopefully soon!! www.sln.potsdam.ny.us/Hmmmm...looks like they've stopped taking orders for this season. ~Martin
