At least knowing how to build or use a solar oven is a good idea. Whether you wish to live a green lifestyle want to use one while camping or in case of power failure. You can buy them from many internet sites but it is always cheaper and more creative to make one yourself. Here are a few links to inspire you. solarcooking.wikia.com/wiki/Windshield_Shade_Solar_Cookersolarcooking.org/plans/Anyone tried one yet?

For those of you with a fast internet connection, here is a YouTube video of a lady cooking a meal in a solar oven....in Minnesota...in winter. The outside air temp was 9 above zero. www.youtube.com/watch?v=qZzUfPcEQMg

This spring I'm going to put together a solar cooker using a Fresnel Lens. The heat that is generated is amazing with those.

Yea, I googled a couple of them Andy, and those things don't play! Kinda like starting a fire with a magnifying glass.

Yeah, I figure with the intensity of the sun here and a fresnel lens I'll be able to cook with it year round.
