I finally spent the gift certificate that the kids gave me for my Birthday. I bought a yogurt maker. Cam's fav. is vanilla but I can't figure out how to flavor it. I take it you use vanilla extract, but how much sugar? Do you put it in before you begin the "fermenting" or after? There were a few recipes in the booklet that came with it but the closest one dealt with using syrups to flavor your yogurt-anyone have any ideas?

When I do vanilla yogurt I use 1/4 t. vanilla and 1- 1 1/2 T. sugar for each cup of milk. I start with 1 T. of sugar taste it , if not sweet enough add more. You can also use honey, but it changes the flavor a little. I put it in before I put it in the yogurt maker.
