~ 25 deer in a neighbor's field at dusk yesterday. They usually aren't so out in the open, but usually in the corn.

The cold weather is rapidly coming here. Been very cool with grey skies. I told DH yesterday that it reminded me of snow skies!

We are still enjoying mild temps, thank God the heat is gone. Today was 82, but low humidity, and the nights are cool, low 50s, we did have a 46 the other night, that was very nice. But I know it is coming, saw a maple in a neighbors yard showing a faint bit of color, and so far we have had 3 flocks of geese go honking over heading south.

Yeah, here you can tell fall is coming. The high yesterday was 103 and the low was 66. Today will be the same. When it starts cooling off at night to the point of a 30-40 degree difference you know fall is on the way. This means we will be able to turn off the AC, open the windows at night and enjoy the nice cool breezes while we sleep. It also means we get 1 more harvest from our tomato's, 1-2 more harvests from our peppers, and every day we pick okra. This will go on until at least the end of the month, maybe into October.

Fall is coming. You can't not notice it here. Warm days, but little humidity, and downright chilly nights! Leaves are starting to change, and all the birds are bunching up. Walnuts, and apples are falling. I am so ready for fall!

The first of the Maples are now turning color. There are some trees around town that are famous for being the first ones in the entire town to turn color. They are reliable every year. It seems early to me.

It is early, so in spite of the warm summer, we may go into fall rather quickly.

I can tell it's fall near my house - all of the pumpkin patches have banners saying they'll be open next week-end! yahoo.... canned pumpkins are coming soon!

And to make things better, it seems pumpkins are quite a bit cheaper than they have been in the last couple years. It seems everyone had good success with their pumpkins this year, I had two vines and multitudes of flowers, but only 1 pumpkin. It is still green, and it is a good size, but I think next year I am going back to " Howdens ", I forget which type I grew this year, but it was a departure from what I had been growing. Last year even after the deer and groundhogs ate a bunch, I still had 7 nice ones for Lynn to decorate with. We bought a few this weekend, and I was surprised to get them as big as a beach ball for only $3.99 at the Amish store.

What a "hoot" (get it? halloween jk ) that they sell the good stuff so everyone else can enjoy! Do they have homemade carmel apples...popcorn balls... ? I used to love them... now dental work costs too much to take the risk - it would be so cool to be 10 years old again, just for halloween... by this time of year we were already designing our costumes, that says fall to me!!
