February (2013) on the homestead

Howdy gang. Been absent for a while. Truth is I'm starting to lose heart. I'm stuck in this house I can't sell, and STILL dreaming about starting my homestead. Well, we just put the durn "For Sale" sign up last week....for the FOURTH year....maybe we'll have some luck this year.

I'm astounded at the speed this country is going to HELL....literally! I no longer have a desire to fight the fools....I just wanna save me and mine from the results of thier stupidity. My son has kidded me about my wanting to be a hermit....I suppose he is very nearly right! I wouldn't mind living amongst some of you....my friends I've never met. But other than that....the world can just kiss my @$$!!

Yesterday we started yellow pear tomatos, Amish paste tomatos, burbank tomatos, sweet cherry peppers, onions, both red and white, thyme, cucumbers both pickling and slicing, chamomile, dill. We also re-potted some cilantro. The rest we will start on the ground in late march/early April time frame.

Today though the desert got about two inches of snow, so I'm going to drink an Irish coffee and warm up a bit.

Well, the house has been for sale for 3 or 4 weeks now. We've had 6 showings but no offers yet. Keeping our fingers crossed!!
