Been trying to line up a trip to NH, go see my oldest Bro. and give him the 10/22 i got him for his bday/ Christmas present. Hate doing a daytrip, more drive time than visiting. Theres a motel a few miles from his house, be much more enjoyable to have a beverage and break some bread with them. Been 4 years since I been over. Came home with another ring tattoo. Oops, you fine peeps havent seen me yet. Gonna be a hoot. Ex- biker homesteader redneck that reads constantly, thats attractively challanged. The shock value should be worth the price of admission. Lol

Rick... I hope you and yours have a Very Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year!! Gosh. Sorry Andy, didn't see this one 'till just now. I hope you and your family had the same. I was fine, took a nice hot dinner to my elderly aunt and made her day, on Fri. then went down to a cousin's place for Sat. dinner. Got stuffed both times. ;D Now my 33's are almost tight again. Oh well, . OK Rick H....yer an old biker, Mike has a crotch rocket, I have had 'em ALL, raced since I was a pup, sooo, when are you guys gonna be ready for some racin' vids ? Oh, thats right, yer phone doesn't do vids, dang. Well, I'll put "on any sunday" on anyway and Mike can watch it, and mebe GF will let you see it. Ya'll prolly already saw it, right ? But a long time ago I'll bet. I got a bazillion of my boys in hare scrambles, and motoX, an I know where a lot more are, all kinds of racin' if you guys like any of that stuff. www.backwoodshome.com/forum/vb/showthread.php?t=15170Here's a whole thread of stuff, "on any sunday" is innere, I'll put it below in case you wanna skip the other. You guys let me know if you like it. "On Any Sunday" : www.hulu.com/watch/79438/on-any-sundayBar none, the best motorcycle movie ever made. Over 40 years old now an still goin strong. NO movie stars innere (well, olly 1) just real live motercycle racers, both professional and amatuers. This one you wanna see Rick, well, prolly Mike too. ;D ANYONE who has ever ridden will find himself innere somewhere ! You will laugh till you hurt, and then cry a few minutes later, I promise.

RR, glad ya had a great Christmas... I own the 'On Any Sunday' on DVD. My first bike was a 70CC fourstroke Honda when I was 5. My dad raced enduro's in the 70's in Colorado. My dad had a 400CC Yamaha and was ranked third in the state. His best friend had a 250 Suzuki and was ranked 1.
I've had motorcycles on and off all my life. Today I own 4 quads 1 for each family members. We go out every chance we get.

Andy, HA ! Thot I remembered you mentioning a quad, but had forgotton it. I still have a 250 Recon Honda, an a 400 Suzy 4wd. Small world ! Wow, my first taste of racing was enduros, wasn't able to do enough to earn a state ranking, but a got a few class wins an a couple of high points. Truthfully, I tried everything in that movie except desert racing an hill climbs. There ain't much desert here, an even fewer hills. Loved flat track, did a few english trials, and wound up doing hare scrambles, and have been there ever since. Somewhere over 50 years. ;D Have been laying HS tracks for 5 clubs for quite a few years, but since I'm on the lake now, and our country is going away, I'm gradually dropping out. Attendance has really suffered this season, and there might not be a next one. We had 6, 7, 800 riders for many years, at a HS, and now we're lucky to pull 400, and that just barely pays the bills. Sad. I bet you guys have a ball on the quads, that's an ideal senerio, picnic lunch, a few tools and make a day exploring. Ppl who have never done that just don't know what they're missing do they ? Not much land to ride here anymore unless you have access to private land. One club or the other does a weekend campout and work/play 2 or 3 days often, working on a new track. HS's don't like to ride a used track, so cutting a new track and preperation is a constant job, but loads of fun. Comeraderie is great ! Dirty ppl are good ppl ! Good eats, BBQ every meal ! If you ever wondered what Fl woods looks like, the helmet cam HS's will give you a birds eye view. Some of them are fast. I wish our AA riders had some helmet cams, but they are ALL business and don't have time for that foolishness. ;D (AA'a are the really FAST guys !) There are some quads in there too. Now those guys are nutz ! Is your dad still alive Andy ? Man I bet he would enjoy some of those vids. ! He must have been quite a guy. I would have loved to meet him and tell old "war stories". I bet he had some ! The Japanese machines hadn't made the scene yet when I started, the European bikes were king then. I rode Bultaco(Spain), and later Yamaha and Honda.

The gf's laptop does most vids. I believe i saw any given sunday wayyyyyy back. Love to see it again. Started off as a kid with an rm100. Next was a cr480. Guess i had a grudge against 250's. Last ride was a FLHTC. Full dress harley. Even had Bose stereo woth 4 speakers. Used to crank Joe Satriani - Surfin' with the alien and make friends amongst my neighbors. Lol Sold that back in 91. Only miss it when it gets hot, which is only 2 months a year. I can deal with that. Sold my polaris wheeler for a tractor. Lawyer got that. Oh, well. This gas nowadays stinks anyway.

Had a brand new 04 Dyna low rider with stage ll stuff and downloads. A damn truckload of chrome and LED lights hidden everywhere. I could not wait to get rid of it ! If I ever go back on the street again it'll be on a Yamaha Star, or mebe a Goldwing.

RR, since getting back into riding I've avoided competition as the desert races out here generally long and very fast paced. I did one and it was just brutal, did well too, but not my idea of fun. At one point I wanted to do a hair scramble, I was living in AR then. Now we just do trail rides with family and friends. The last time out we did an 40 mile ride that took us from 1500 ft about sea level, up to 6000 ft then back down to the starting point, 1 great big loop.
My dad's still alive and kicking, he's 68 and not moving a lot due to bad knees. This has caused him to gain a lot of weight so he rides around on a one of those mobility scooter now. One of the things that saddens me because he was very dynamic and active when he was younger.

Mike has a crotch rocket, I have had 'em ALL That's the second reference to a crotch rocket in my stable. Where is that coming from? I think you have a mistaken image of me. I have two bikes, an '09 Harley Street Glide and an '06 Suzuki V-Strom. The V is definitely not a crotch rocket. It falls in the category they are now calling "adventure touring". 1000 cc's of dirt road and off-road fun that can also make repeated trips from PA to Fl burning the super-slabs. Closest thing I know of to a UJM (Universal Japanese Motorcycle) nowadays. Since I gave up ref-ing bicycle races this year I'd probably get rid of the V and only have one motorcycle, but it's already paid for. Might as well keep it and have fun on the fire roads. Closest I ever came to owning a crotch rocket was a Yamaha FJR 1300 sport tourer, but even that was too tight and scrunched up for my taste.

::)Just noticed my avatar OK, that bike is not a crotch rocket either. That was my first ever "brand new" bike, a 2000 Kawasaki Concours 1000. Also a sport touring bike. Sits much more upright than a crotch rocket. Did my first ever Iron Butt ride on that. Also my first PA to Fl road trip. Actually it was PA to FL to MS to NC and home again. Way back in 1975 I actually raced at Unadilla. Completed two heats. Swore I'd NEVER ride with those nuts again. Bike was a Yamaha 250 Enduro. I average about 15,000 miles a year between my two bikes. My season typically starts April 1 and ends with first snow. Last few years that has gotten me well into December and sometimes into January. This year it ended the week before T-day.

LOL, not sure you could call what I did racing. I barely made the cut to get into the second heat and I got my butt kicked and handed to me in the second heat. I grew up only a little over an hour from Unadilla, about 20 miles from Cooperstown.

Yup Mike, I know it's not technically a crotch rocket, I forget that different areas have different slang terms. We call any of the FAST Japanese road bikes (Italian too) crotch rockets. I definately meant no disrespect for your machine though. That's the only one I'd seen or heard you mention. My #2 son has a 1988 Kawi, that looks very much like yours. He just completely restored it and it is beautiful. His uncle has one too that he used to drag race. Then I have a friend in Ft Myers that has 2 of them with turbos, and stretched swing arms. Drag racers also. One is street legal and once in awhile he goes out and embarrasses some of the kids on crotch rockets ! Yea, I envy those that can ride all day for days (iron butts), but my back would never allow me that luxury. I put a seat with a backrest on my Harley, but 2 hours is about all I could hope for. The whole bunch I run with is ALL ABOUT green. One is a Kawasaki dealer, the suspension guru is, then the whole bunch rides green too. Green powder coated wheels on their campers, green shirts, everything is GREEN ! The contingency money is good too. As to your racing career, the way I see it, if you had fun it's ALL GOOD. That's the difference between riding pro and amatuer, right ? Amatuers are allowed to have fun. ;D

;D Have you seen the anti-monkey butt powder ? Really ! A bunch of the HS guys use it faithfully. It keeps you from rubbing your butt raw in a 3 hr HS. I'm sure a lots more ppl use it too.
