Funny you should mention that Bonney. That is one of the ideas I have for a future project for this forum as well.
I was involved in publishing a Cookbook on the Glenn Beck forum. It is a forum called the Glenn Beck insiders, you have to pay per month to get access to it, and after a couple years, I got tired of the squabbeling and a few of the personalities and no longer go there, and haven't for several years. Anyway, a short time after I joined, one of the forums favorite personalities had a tragic accident at work. The guy went by the name of Gunslinger, he was at work delivering one of those huge commercial pizza ovens, and for some reason the thing tipped while moving and it fell on him, crushing him. He was only 26 years old and left a wife and 5 little ones behind. The forum was devastated. A few of us while commiserating about the accident were trying to figure out how we could help those he left behind. His wife was always a stay at home mom. The idea we came up with was for those on the forum wishing to be included was to publish a cookbook. Different people had different tasks in the production and we all went to work. Aside from supplying a few recipes, I was assigned proof-reading and formatting duties, others were in charge of the cover concept, some were assigned sorting and categorizing recipes, some in charge of photo's. You get the idea, anyway in three months time we put together a 500 page cookbook called simply " Food and how to cook it" culinary confessions of the Glenn Beck Insiders.
I do not remember how many copies we sold initially, but we were able to present his widow a check for $10,000 a month before Christmas that year, and all future proceeds went to them as well. They do work, and realistically, self publishing is the only way to pull off something like that. I say
GO FOR IT!!!
