DW told me last night that we can have a wood stove instead of pellet, as long as it was this one. I like the idea of being able to bake in it too, so I'm seriously considering it. I can't find anything online that gives the price of a Jotul. Anybody have a ballpark? I'm partial to Vermont Castings Soapstone stoves myself, but boy are they dear! Mike, With the stove and porcelain finish, the stainless steel metalbestos pipe, with fittings and transitions on a two story building and the double wall pipe inside the house, plus the hearth pad and the installation, we have $5,200 in it. I know that seems like a lot, but ours will be paid back in 18 months, and the stove will last forever. Oh, and don't forget that this stove qualifies for the $1,500 energy rebate on the taxes this year, if you want one, act before December 31st and make sure it is a stove that qualifies for the credit. So in actuality we have $3,700 into it after the rebate.

That's not bad Wayne. A lot to be concidered here, firstly, it does a superb job of keeping you all warm. Can be used for cooking and warming. Will outlast us all. And is so very nice looking. Something to be proud of without a doubt. And most of all, when the ele. is off, and the gas tank is empty, it will still be ROARING hot ! ;D PRICELESS!

Mike, will you adopt me? ;-) anyone? I cook good. Lol. My neighbor told me to buy a pellet stove. I laughed at him. I live on a woodlot, tyvm. Loehmans sells the pioneer princess wood cookstove, with a water jacket. Makes my current setup look like a boogie on a cow turd. Our shenandoah puts out some serious btu's, and the 30 gallon copper tank i installed looks like a still, but, ahhhh..... Free hot water! When we want to see the flames we just open the door. I installed everything myself. I guess i did it right, been installed 4 years now. If you could see my install, you would be shaking your heads. Cinder block hearth, wall and shelf for the hw heater. Someday, field stone, when i build my cellar- dweller house.

Beautiful stove! ~Martin Thank you Martin, I know it seems like a lot, but we haven't burned one drop of oil so far, and the house has been 15 degrees warmer than last winter, our thermostat is the window if it gets too hot. ;D It has been in the teens already and we were toasty, I remember how POed I used to get hearing that furnace kick on every 10 minutes or so, haven't heard it in so long, I forget what it sounds like.

You can't beat wood heat! ;D No doubt, in the long run it's an excellent investment.... Jotul stoves are great. I'm stuck with natural gas this winter. How are firewood prices in that area? Prices around here are essentially the same as they were 25 years ago. ~Martin Beautiful stove!

I found a great wood guy. I bought 10 cords of 2-3 year cut oak, maple, hickory, beech and ash for $80 a cord, I know that is a real good price, and I told him to come back in the spring with 15 more cord. Other guys are getting $150-200 a cord in this area, but I am not sure how well they are selling it. Up in NH my kid said that he is paying $225 for seasoned.

He does charge for delivery, but not too bad in this area, he was delivering to a place 45 miles from here and only getting $120 a cord, his wood lot is only 4 miles from here, so he is cutting me a break. But it is real nice wood, all split and cut to my required size and dumped right next to where I stack it.

Sounds like an honest man. Dont lose his number! Your stove is beautiful Wayne. Its just that my whole camp is valued at $8500. I havent found a company that will insure me, and Ive called everyone. I did find a deal on 12 No Trespassing signs. Thats almost as good as liability insurance. If they can read. Lol
