I think if you make sure to add lemon juice to raise the PH or can in the pressure canner they would be fine. A water bath might not get hot enough to kill the fungi that causes the blight. just make sure to not use any tomatoes that have any evidence of blight on them.

Thanks for the replies you guys! we'll see how many tomatoes I actually end up getting to see if I will be canning any sauce. One can only hope! I think I will do both things-if there is any sign of blight, I'll cut off the bad part and make sauce for that night - otherwise I'll can the sauce with a pressure canner-which I kind of do anyway because I add mushrooms and stuff to it that requires it anyway. I read somewhere to taste to tomatoes first because if there is a sign of blight the tomatoes might have an off taste. Just enjoyed the mahi mahi and tuna that my brother brought! Fried up some zucchini too-made zucchini bread and muffins earlier-Cam swiftly gobbled three Growing boy.

Wow, I had zero suspension in the truck for the first hour and a half today. Just adding 4 more pages really put us over the comfort zone. I had people following my truck today to stops to get their copy, some stores told me people were in first thing this morning looking for the paper. This is so cool, you guys are all rock stars!

Well I think people are so tired of our society that they crave the articles in the paper. It is begining to sink in that our nation and economy are in serious trouble and we need to make BIG changes ASAP!! Self sufficency is lookin really good to a lot of people now.

Right you are Laurie, and when the roles reverse as they must with whats coming, those that know or knows someone who knows are going to be much better off.

I agree Laurie! On Drudge tonight-USA borrowing tops 100% of GDP- I can't see it being long now. Wayne-that is really cool! Hope your suspension survives this!

I consider myself fairly well prepared and I'm absolutely terrified of what will actually happen when the SHTF! Humans are savages!

Some men will do anything when they hear..."Daddy, I'm hungry". I wish more people would think of that ahead of time and do at least SOME preparation! They're too busy watching great entertainment on TV....like "American Idol".

Martin-I LOVE your house! It looks cozy and reminds me of my grandparent's house on Long Island. Is that a lake in back???

That's a great house Martin... You have the ability there to make edible landscape.
Fred, you're right people are savages, all they're thinking about now is what gadget they want... they can't eat the gadgets and other garbage.
To families that ask me for it in a SHTF scenario I'm prepared to give them food while I have it. If someone wants to take it they better come prepared to die for it.

Is that a lake in back??? I wish there was a lake in the back, but, unfortunately, it's just people. LOL It does look like water there to the left, but that's the neighbors grayish-white tarp covered shed thingy. Actually, there is a small lake (Eldridge Lake) beyond, but it's not visible...and of course the finger lakes are in the opposite direction. ~Martin
