Today I roasted our pre-Thansksgiving turkey so I can use the carcass, neck, heart, gizzard and feet to make turkey stock for Thanksgiving! Gotta have the real deal!!! ~Martin Gotta have the stock for the noodles and the dressing/stuffing.

Trudy and I bottled two cases of home brewed beer last night. Now it's got to sit and ferment in the bottle to make the carbonation. I had a taste of the wort last night, and this is going to be a good Guinness style ale....

I had no idea you were a home brewer Andy. I have been waiting for two of Lynn's co-workers to write a story about home brew, still waiting...LOL

We have a kit to do that too Andy-but James hasn't done it yet, lol. Ah may be a winter project! I had a stinky day at work-a co worker passed away unexpectedly over the weekend. We all walked around in a fog...My boss took it pretty hard, it being the third anniversary of his own wife's passing....Good to be home. My fridge in the garage died over the weekend Boy was THAT an adventure! I think I might can up the turkey once it is defrosted enough to cut up......oh and I got the woodstove cleaned out too-it's getting chilly at night!

We had the stove going for three days a week or so back, and had it on yesterday, I let it go out last night and it has stayed warm in here. I know it will be a daily ritual soon enough, not rushing it, but boy does that wood heat feel good when it is damp and cold out.

It has frosted good up on the mountain and in between....but not here yet. My pepper plants are still alive and well. ~Martin

We went up to the mountain today. Some idiot gas well worker working 'hard' to heat 'the problem', dumped garbage at the end of the driveway. The 'Einstein' dumped garbage with a bunch of pay stubs which, of course, had his name and address!! LOL

But then I am often told that I don't know how to avoid confrontation.

Well...If I was living there I'd certainly handle it differently...If I came face to face with them...I'm sure that they'd wish they'd never met me (I have that affect on most people...LOL) I'm just happy that they didn't do something far more serious and damaging. I'm not close enough to guard the place....I think that pushing it (rather than just picking up the stuff)......may lead to retaliation. I have there info....if something further happens...I'll pass it on to the worthless State Police ....maybe they'll act, but probably not. What to do? ~Martin

SOmetimes you have to pick the right time to engage, you are right, if you aren't there, the cowards will do something else, there is time to wait...;-)

I got a gallon and a half of rich turkey stock outa that turkey carcass and made turkey rillettes out of the couple cups of residual meat that I pulled off it in the end.
Today I worked on 8 pounds of breakfast sausage.....harvested some hot peppers for pickled peppers....and fired up my first fall batch of sauerkraut.
